French Canadian Shepard’s Pie
Coming from a French-Canadian family in New England, this recipe goes back for close to 100 years. This started off as something that was inexpensive yet would hold you over. The recipe stuck through the years and is something I grew up on as a child. Personally, I gave up meat and dairy so there are many substitutions that can be made. All of the versions are a great meal on a cold day.
Gluten Free Pumpkin Bread
This is a go-to treat when I want something sweet. I eat small amounts and heat it up with some earth balance. It is good with tea at night or just when you are craving something sweet. You can swap out the eggs with applesauce and add in nuts. This is also something great to make around the holidays as well.
Sweet Potato Gnocchi with Vegetables
This is a recipe that is something that has become a staple in my home. It is can be made, gluten, free, and vegan or vegetarian. It has all of the right components, such as texture, flavor, protein, fiber, and carbohydrates. The gnocchi can be made homemade or packages, although homemade is recommended.
The Most Underrated Superfood
When we think of superfoods we usually think of foods like acai berries, goji berries, cacao, green tea, or spirulina. There is one superfood that was extremely popular many years ago but has disappeared from Americans’ plates for many years.
French Canadian Crepes
This recipe has been in my family for close to 70 years, and it has been something that has been passed down to several generations. There are many ways to eat traditional crepes. The French-Canadian way it to serve only with syrup. Some traditional people will serve with a pat of butter. There is already butter in the mixture, so I left that out. These crepes are gluten-free, but they are also made with regular flour as well. They are very tasty, both ways.
