If You Like Salmon, You Need to try Salmon Burgers!

By Noor Nouaillati, Recent ASU Nutrition Student

Salmon is so delicious even as a burger. This burger is so delicious and filled with omega 3 fatty acids that it makes me think we should eat more. They are simple and quick to make a fast meal after a long day of work. I will list the ingredients at the end of this article and I will tell you how I made it. I hope you try this out and enjoy it and make it a favorite of yours.

In a food processor, process the salmon to almost a paste form. Place this in a bowl and add the seasoning that consists of sesame seed, fresh dill, salt, pepper, chili flakes, lemon zest and chopped onions. Mix these together very well and then take a handful and form into a burger. You do not want it to be too thick or thin, you want it to be like a regular patty. I used whole wheat burger bread but I spread some butter on both sides and grilled the buns until they were perfectly browned and looked crunchy.

Grill the salmon patties on a grill or on a pan with some olive oil. Make sure to cook each side for 5 minutes. You don’t want it to be too dry. In the meantime, cut some lettuce, slices of tomato and slices of red onions. Put some mayonnaise, your salmon, lettuce, tomato, onion, drizzle some hot sauce if you want and enjoy it with a side of potato salad. This dish reminds me of summertime, but it’s delicious all year round.

Ingredients:

  • 6ounce skinless salmon fillets
  • sesame seeds
  • chopped dill
  • chili flakes

  • lettuce
