More on COVID-19 and Vitamin B6

Julie Murphree, Arizona Farm Bureau Outreach Director

A study published in Frontiers in Nutrition suggests that the anti-inflammatory and anti-thrombosis properties in vitamin B6 might help protect people against severe COVID-19 infection. Researcher Thanutchaporn Kumrungsee said that lower levels of vitamin B6 are always present in people with chronic conditions like diabetes, obesity and heart diseases, which are associated with a higher risk for COVID-19.

Reading about this made me glad that I supplement my diet with B6. For all the other reasons to take this vitamin and certainly eat foods with B6, learning that it might help reduce the risk of severe COVID-19 infection is encouraging too.

The article Study: Vitamin B6 may protect against severe COVID-19 includes some positive quotes about the effort on this study. A full Briefing on the study can also be found.
