Adults who only have time to exercise on the weekends can still reap benefits from physical activity, according to a study published in JAMA Internal Medicine. And that can be most of us.
In the study, researchers examined data from nearly 351,000 adults who took part in the National Health Interview Survey from 1997 to 2013, followed participants for a median of 10.4 years, and found that weekend exercisers and those who worked out more often had similar all-cause mortality hazard ratios, especially when compared with people who were inactive.
So, what are some of the fun weekend workout activities we can engage in? The following list is a good start.
- Go on a walk with a friend.
- Play a sport.
- Take a weekend class that’s hard to schedule during your work week.
- Play golf.
