You’re invited to Participate in the 4th Annual “PJ’s & Eggs”

A Breakfast for Dinner Event – Friday, October 12, 2012

To Benefit Arizona’s Children Association

Hickman’s Family Farms with some of the most favorite breakfast restaurants in the Valley and around the state to celebrate the fourth annual “PJs & Eggs” on Friday, October 12, 2012. “The Breakfast for Dinner Event” will begin at 5 p.m. to benefit Arizona’s Children Association (AzCA) foster care programs statewide.  (For a list of participating restaurants and more information on the event partners, visit www.pjsandeggsaz.com.

Customers who have breakfast for dinner at each participating restaurant on October 12 are invited to wear their pajamas and asked to bring a new pair (any size for kids ages newborn to 18) to be donated to children in the AzCA’s foster care programs. In return, each customer will receive a certificate for a free dozen Hickman’s eggs. Participating restaurants will donate a portion of the proceeds from the evening to AzCA as well.

The current list of participating venues includes: Kiss the Cook (Glendale); Over Easy (Phoenix); Scramble (North Phoenix); Chicken Noodle Cafe (Wickenburg); Sue Ann’s Apple Pan (Prescott); Super Farm (Mesa); Millstone Cafe (Buckeye); Vida E Caffe (Globe), Liberty Market (Gilbert), and Garden Cafe (Yuma). Red’s Bar & Grill at the Wigwam (Litchfield Park) will hold a “Hangover Breakfast Party” on Saturday morning, October 13. Schnepf Farms in Queen Creek will be supporting the event in November on a date to be announced soon.

Arizona groups fight for foster care

With more than 13,000 Arizona children in foster care, keeping foster families is essential to providing enough homes for these kids… Experts agree the best place for kids, if they can’t be in their own homes, is with relatives or in a family-foster home because those provide the child a consistent and stable environment.

Donate new pajamas (any size) to benefit Arizona’s Children Association Foster Care Programs. Receive a Free Dozen of Hickman’s eggs and a chance to win gift certificates to your favorite breakfast restaurants.

“The event is in its fourth year with continued support from many of the locations that have participated since the beginning,” says Sharman Hickman of Hickman’s Family Farms. “PJs & Eggs offers a unique opportunity to share in a event that is fun and extremely useful. It’s hands-on help for our local communities’ kids in foster care. Participants know that whatever donations they make go directly to local children in need. Our goal this year is 2,012 pairs of pajamas since it’s currently 2012. Next year we’ll go for 2,013.”

AzCA’s adoption and foster care programs, offered in most areas of the state, are vital resources for matching children in need with safe and loving families.

There are nearly 11,000 children in Arizona’s foster care system ranging from in age from newborn to 18 years old. “Most children come into foster care with little more than the clothes on their backs,” remarks AzCA’s CEO Michael Coughlin. “Budget cuts have impacted the ability of many agencies to fulfill the needs of these children, so we are grateful for the boost that PJs & Eggs gives our kids in foster care. The simple gesture of receiving a new pair of pajamas sends a very powerful signal to a child who is most likely feeling uprooted and apprehensive. Being given something new of his or her own says, ‘You matter, and things will get better.'”
